Step One: Start by filling out our adoption application

Step Two: After reviewing your application a volunteer will be in touch with you.

Step Three: If the dog is still in Texas we will discuss the option of fostering to adopt

Step Four: We will contact your references, vet and follow up on apartment/HOA restrictions if necessary

Step Five: If you find your right match, we will do our best to connect you with the foster in Texas until your dog arrives.

***On case by case situations, you may be able to foster adopt which can be discussed when submitting your application***

Important Information Before Adopting A Heart of the Underdog Rescue Dog

All applicants must be at least 21 years of age to adopt, please have a valid government issued ID ready and available.

Our adoption donation is $450 per rescue dog. Dogs will be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, micro-chipped and ready to go home with you when you find the right match!  

Puppies that are not old enough to be spayed/neutered at time of adoption will be scheduled at an approved location when they are of age. This will be included in your adoption agreement.

We will not adopt siblings to the same home, unless they are a bonded pair.

If you rent we will contact your landlord for the pet policies. Please provide their contact information.
