Cruiser is about a 5 years old, Belgian Malinois/Shephard mix weighing about 45lbs. Cruiser found himself on the euthanasia list at a kill shelter in Houston TX after he was found wandering around. A group of people saved him. His owner was later tracked down and they said they didn't want him and gave no reason why. Cruiser is very sweet and after he warms up loves his humans. Cruiser is in a foster home in the Puyallup, WA area and we've learned more about him. He is definitely an alpha dog which means he needs to be the leader as he is dominant. He has a very HIGH prey drive, so no smaller dogs and NO cats. He okay with dogs his own size, but need slow and patient introductions. When he does not want to do something- like putting a harness on him- he will let you know by growling or raising his lip. He has not shown any aggression towards his foster mom, but is able to tell her when he's not a fan of something. We think kids would over stimulated him so we are recommending a home with no kids.
So those are some quirks that he has so let us tell you about Cruiser's very positive traits. He is wicked smart and very food motivated. His foster mom is working with him on clicker training. He loves humans and is extremely eager to please. He walks well on leash, but he is very strong. His ideal home would be very active and giving him a place to run and play. His foster mom describes him as a very loving and sweet dog who deserves the right home. He will need continued training and patience. . We would love to find him a home that won't abandon him as he deserves a family of his own.
